Cyclones 6-4 Overall, 3-2 MCAC South

On Wednesday the St Cloud Technical and Community College Volleyball team competed against the Warriors of Ridgewater, ranked 3rd in the nation, and fought a great 5 set battle; 25-27, 29-27, 22-25, 25-22, 8-15.

The Cyclones offense was led by Chloe Callahan, second year outside hitter from Maple Lake, with 12 kills followed by Karlee Kern, first year outside hitter from BBE, with 11.  Running the offense was Kalli Mathiasen, first year setter/hitter from Apollo, with 20 set assists and 6 kills and Ally Bushendorf, first year setter from Eau Claire, with 17 assists along with 3 service aces.  Chelsea Schroeder, first year libero from Rocori, protected the back court with 35 digs, breaking the SCTCC Volleyball record (previously set by Morgan Hanson with 30 in 2014). 

The Cyclones came back on Friday in Austin, MN beating Riverland 3-0; 25-21, 25-23, 25-18.  Kill leaders were Whitney Haney, first year middle from BOLD, and Callahan with 6 each.  Caitlin Walser-Deuel, first year middle from Big Lake, followed with 5 kills.  Mathiasen and Bushendorf had a combined 32 set assists and 4 service aces.  Payton Thompson, second year libero from Big Lake, led the defense with 8 digs. 

The Cyclones next match is Wednesday, Sept 21st at 6:30pm at the Whitney Center versus Rochester.
