The 2024 Cyclone Volleyball team competes with four returning sophomores: Olivia Mortenson from Kimball, Josie Hiltner from Eden Valley-Watkins, Abri Hennen from Sartell, and Courtney Mathwig from Glenco-Silver Lake. The addition of thirteen first year athletes complete the team that started the season 4-0 at the Anoka Ramsey Community College Crossover Tournament.
The Cyclones faced Mesabi Range to open the season and took the match 3-0; 25-18, 30-28, 25-22. The second match of the day versus Central Lakes the Cyclones defeated the Raiders 3-0; 25-10, 27-25, 25-21.
The second day the Cyclones opened with the Legends from Alexandria and were victorious 3-1; 25-17, 27-29, 25-16, 25-23. The last match of the tournament was against Northland College and the Cyclones earned another win 3-0; 25-22, 25-11, 25-22.
Stat leaders for the tournament include:
Kills: Brooklyn Fischer with 52 - first year middle hitter from BBE, Presley Kenning with 43 - first year outside hitter from Annandale, Josie Hiltner with 21- sophomore rightside hitter from Eden Valley Watkins
Set Assists: Olivia Mortenson with 78- sophomore setter from Kimball, Jadyn Young with 50- first year setter from Marcus, IA
Digs: Presley Kenning with 64, Brooklyn Fischer with 54, Jaden Sandquist- first year defensive specialist from Annadale, and Lexy Nehring- first year outside hitter from Ogilvie both earned 43
Blocks: Josie Hiltner with 12, Brooklyn Fischer with 11, and Maddie Frieler with 9- first year middle from Paynesville
The Cyclones host their season home opener on Wednesday, August 28th at 6:30pm at the St Cloud Whitney Center.
